In 1943 Sot aesan published a collection of Buddhist writings, the Correct Canon of Buddhism (Pulgyo chŏngjŏn), which included the doctrine of his new order. Won Buddhism is one of the major religions of Korea, established in 1916. This text consists of the canon, with the analects & chronicle of the founder, known as the 'Scripture of Sot'aesan'. This sect claims to be a new form of Buddhism & Sot'aesan, or Pak Chung-bin, is claimed to be the new presiding Buddha. The translation committee made a number of changes in the original text and five of these have proved to be problematic. In his 2003 translation, known as the Wonbulgyo Kyojon or The Scriptures of Won Buddhism in English translation, the translator Bongkil Chung deleted the changes made in 1962 and restored the original words of the 1943 text.
